The Royal Flying Doctor Service is both delighted and thankful to be Airnorth Cable Beach Polo’s Charity Partner and welcomes the opportunity of sharing the Royal Flying Doctor Service story with those elite competitors and spectators from all around the world.

2018 marked the 90th anniversary for Royal Flying Doctor Service supporting the growth and development of communities in remote and regional Australia through the provision of critical primary health care. The vital funds received from this world-class event will contribute towards Royal Flying Doctor Service’ life-saving operations across Western Australia and will continue to keep the Flying Doctor in the air.

The Royal Flying Doctor Service relies on the generosity of community events and organisations such as Airnorth Cable Beach Polo in the purchase and aeromedical fit-out of aircraft, development of infrastructure, delivery of clinics, operational costs and much more.

Royal Flying Doctor Service takes possession of two new Pilatus PC-24 Jet Aircraft in late 2018 which will enhance its ability to service the increasing demand within the Kimberley region. The Rio Tinto PC-24 LifeFlight Jet Fleet will ensure improved response capability for emergency aero medical evacuations, reduced flight times from Broome to Perth (from 5.5hrs to 2.5hrs), enhanced capacity to transport up to three stretchered patients and greater accessibility throughout WA.

The demand for services is constantly growing with the Royal Flying Doctor Service receiving close to 40,000 calls for help in Western Australia alone each year, the retrieval of 9,000 patients and the telehealth service delivered to many more throughout our vast 2.5 million square kilometre. On average the Royal Flying Doctor Service medical teams provide ICU level care in flight to 24 patients per day. That’s one person every hour of the day.

Partnerships of this nature, and the generous support of charitable endowments received through exclusive events like Airnorth Cable Beach Polo, ensure the Royal Flying Doctor Service continues to deliver their life saving work to communities and regions like Broome and the Kimberley.
